In 1961 Georges Braque fell ill and asked his friend and master lapidary Herger de Loewenfeld to help him finish all of the works which he did not have the strength to complete. He created a series of 110 gouaches of his major works in order to reproduce them three dimensions. With Braque’s guidance, Herger de Loewenfeld created extraordinary jewels, sculptures, tapestries and ceramics.

In 1963, at the request of André Malraux, then Minister of Culture under General de Gaulle, most of the works created by this partnership were shown in 1963 at an exhibition at the Louvre Musée des Arts Décoratifs called "Bijoux de Braque". Braque became the first painter to exhibit his work in the Louvre while still alive.

In 1996, after 30 years of working together, Heger de Loewenfeld officially named Armand Israël as the protector and holder of the rights of the "Métamorphoses" given to him by Georges Braque. Armand Israël’s passion is to educate the public about Georges Braque’s life and work.
